SpamBayes
SpamBayes is a effective and free spam filter product. SpamBayes supports several OS platforms and there is also an Outlook based version.
Statistical Analysis of Messages
SpamBayes works by sorting incoming email into three categories - spam (junk email), ham (good email) and unsure (SpamBayes is not sure).
You "train" SpamBayes by re-categorizing (moving) the messages, making SpamBayes better and better at identifying spam, and minimizing the number of email that gets "wrongly sorted".
The actual sorting is by statistical analysis of words and tokens in the whole email message (including hidden message headers)
Based on Open Source
SpamBayes is based on an open source project. The product is available for Windows, Linux and Mac.
